While I was born and raised in the tropical beaches of Recife, Brazil, I have spent most of my life now living in the Arizona desert, in the ancestral land of the Akimel O'Oodham. This is the land where I raised my children, grew as an artist, and have worked as a community organizer and activist.
This design is an homage to this city's namesake - the Phoenix. The orange and red hues reflect the Fire Bird's fierceness and brilliance, and reminds us that we too are capable of rising from the ashes and setting the world aflame with our beauty and passions.
